The best diaper for baby

As parents, we constantly face decisions that impact our children. One of the earliest decisions we make as a new parent is deciding what type or brand of diaper to use. When I was a mom for the first time twelve years ago I really didn’t think too much about diapers. Honestly, I just used what was gifted to me before I even began looking into what really went into diapering.

Fast forward twelve years later, I was pregnant with my fourth baby.

With that pregnancy I did a lot of research. I was very concerned about what type of diaper I would use for my newborn. Our integumentary system (skin) is our largest organ. What we put on our skin (and in our body) impacts our overall health.

As a busy, type-a, working mom I really struggled with deciding what type of diaper to use for our newborn. Convenience was a priority, but I did not want to compromise on what was best for my baby. This is what led me to debate between disposable diapers like Coterie and cloth diapers.

New moms have to wade through a ton of conflicting advice.

As the founder of Baby Settler, I know this is only more true each and every day! But at Baby Settler, we’re like your non-judgy nurse friend who helps you sort through it all so you can make more confident decisions, faster. So let’s dive into the pros and cons of clean, non-toxic disposable diaper vs. a cloth diaper to help you make an informed decision.

Coterie Diapers

The Pros as I see them

  • Convenience: Coterie diapers offer unparalleled convenience. They are easy to use, require no washing, and are perfect for busy families or when on the go.
  • Advanced Absorbency: Designed with superior absorbency, Coterie diapers keep your baby dry longer. This reduces the risk of diaper rash, and it helps ensure a better night’s sleep for both baby and parents.
  • Hypoallergenic and Safe: Coterie prioritizes your baby’s health with hypoallergenic materials that are free from harmful chemicals.
  • Sustainability Focus:While disposable, Coterie is committed to sustainability, using eco-friendly practices and materials to minimize environmental impact.

The Cons as I see them

  • Cost Over Time: Disposable diapers like Coterie can be more expensive in the long run compared to cloth diapers.
  • Environmental Impact: Despite efforts to be more eco-friendly, disposable diapers still contribute to landfill waste.

Cloth Diapers

The Pros as I see them

  • Eco-Friendly: Cloth diapers are reusable and reduce waste, making them an excellent choice for environmentally conscious families.
  • Cost-Effective: Over time, cloth diapers can be more economical since they are purchased once and used for years.
  • Customizable Absorbency: You can adjust the absorbency of cloth diapers with different inserts.

The Cons as I see them

  • Maintenance: Cloth diapers require a significant time commitment for washing, drying, and preparation, which can be challenging for busy families.
  • Learning Curve: There’s a learning curve to finding the right fit and absorbency setup, and adjustments may be needed as your baby grows.
  • Bulkiness: Some parents find cloth diapers to be bulkier than disposables, which can affect how baby clothes fit.

So what’s the right choice?

Both Coterie and cloth diapers have their advantages and disadvantages. Your decision may ultimately come down to what aspects are most important to you and your family—whether that’s convenience, environmental impact, cost over time, or your baby’s comfort.

Why I Chose Coterie for My Baby

As a mother and medical professional who has navigated the world of baby products for over a decade, Coterie was the best diaper for my fourth baby. I made this decision after extensive research and firsthand experience. The unmatched convenience, superior absorbency, and commitment to safety and sustainability made Coterie the clear choice for my family.

While I deeply respect and understand the benefits of cloth diapering, the balance of practicality, environmental consciousness, and baby’s comfort that Coterie offers aligned perfectly with our family’s needs.

Whatever you choose, remember that your decision is the right one for your family.

Each family’s journey is unique, and what works best for one may not for another. The most important thing is that your baby is loved, cared for, and comfortable.
